Cyber security (or Information Assurance) and delivering quality IT services so my customers can excel at what they do are two of my biggest passions!  As a career Signal Officer, I have been working some aspect of cyber security since being commissioned in 1988.  However, it wasn’t until my Booz|Allen|Hamilton contractor days at U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM) where this passion truly bloomed.  I was quickly educated on adversarial capabilities and the immense challenge of defending IT networks from unwanted breaches (from both inside and outside threats).  What truly ignited my cyber security flame was the subsequent realization of the potential disastrous impacts cyber vulnerabilities and/or poor cyber security practices could have on our nation’s defenses, its critical infrastructure, and the our economy.  With my CIO hat on, I’ve had the pleasure of taking on the challenge of improving an organization’s existing C4 and IT infrastructure for many years.  I have never been a status quo, risk-averse IT professional as I have seen too often the positive impact delivering new technologies quickly and effectively can have on what matters most to my customers.  With my Designated Approving Official (DAA) / Approving Official (AO) hat that I’ve worn these past 5+ years, I’ve had the opportunity to address the challenges of balancing these two passions – delivering world-class IT services with a level of acceptable cyber security risk posture.  If you see value in my experiences and philosophies, I’m interested in discussing your particular challenges and how I may be able to help your team in these areas!
